We have been asked why it was decided to include brakes in the design. The number one answer is SAFETY! Brakes help greatly reduce the stopping distance required for the weight cargo adds to your bike, and also greatly reduces any effect of the trailer during emergency stops.
Design
features
The design of the finest touring trailers on the road.
Whether it's down hill, through a corner, or just stopping, "don't get pushed around".
The brakes engage using only compression of the tow connection. No electric hook ups and no adjustment needed for changing loads! Heavier loads or quicker stops create greater brake force. Oversized disks and calipers dissipate the heat on long hills and ensure system needing little maintenance. Self adjusting, the brakes compensate for any load, slowing and stopping without locking up.
Steel Frame
Because great handling starts with a frame that doesn't flex under pressure and uses quality suspension. With a Paintwolf Custom Trailer, you get it all.
-
The low slung frame base provides the cargo body with a low center of gravity and excellent cornering quality's. (5 1/2" ground clearance)
-
The correct distance from the hitch to axle and forward cargo area insure excellent recovery from corners and straight line trailing qualities.
-
The swing-arms, mounted on 2, oversize, double row sealed ball bearings, provide a solid mounting with frictionless travel.
-
Load adjustable, Gas charged, hydraulic, coil over shocks provide an exceptionally smooth 2-1/2 inch's of travel at the axle and fast recovery to level from bumps and chuckholes in corners
-
The 19" wheels roll over most "holes" rather than into them. Providing smooth pulling characteristics and very, long lasting tires.
-
The frame is made with DOM tube for added lightweight strength and durability, powder coated in black for a attractive, lasting finish.
-
The hardware used is marine or motorcycle grade, for function, appearance and durability.
Rotating Hitch
The fully rotational 22mm spherical hitch mounted to a 7/8" stainless steel shaft, riding on 2, large self lubricated bearings, creates zero resistance leaning through corners
Inertia Brake System
Aerodynamic Styling
At only 1 and 3/4" wider than a touring motorcycle, the trailer will follow all most anywhere the motorcycle can go. The steel fenders are mounted to the swing-arms keeping the profile of the body as low as possible for handling as well as adding more of a motorcycle appearance .
At highway speeds the trailer drafts behind the motorcycle. The shape of the hand laid fiberglass body catches just enough of the air flow to press down on the trailer and add to it's stability at higher speeds.
Convenience in Design
-
The long wide lid makes access to the interior easier. Providing easier loading and access to the desired items without unloading all the cargo to get the desired items on the trip.
-
The taillights used are LED and as large as practical to maximize visibility while minimizing the draw on the Motorcycle's electric system.
-
The 5 wire SO cable and the 5 pronged plug with an integrator complete the trailer electrical system.
-
The carpet used for the floor is removable making cleaning easy.
-
Overall specifications for the trailer are:
76" long,
30" tall
35" wide
150 lb. empty
The total capacity is 8.4 cubic foot. Which when compared to a Harley Ultra, is = to 2 tour paks, two saddlebags, one large CPAP machine and all my cleaning supplies and tools for the road.
This hitch has over 55k miles and has been in service for 5 years. Still works like new!
